- Keypad accepts the code but the gate hesitates or does nothing. This usually points to a failing relay on the BFT control board, not the keypad itself. The keypad is talking, the board isn’t listening. We see this most often on BFT boards older than eight years.
- Intercom audio works one direction only. The visitor can hear you, but you can’t hear them, or the reverse. That’s typically a dead microphone or speaker driver on the intercom module. Humidity inside the pedestal accelerates this, and Little Elm’s summer moisture gets into poorly sealed enclosures fast.
- Keypad backlight dead but buttons still function. A failed LED driver or a cracked faceplate letting water in. The buttons still send signal until corrosion reaches the contacts. You have a window before it’s fully dead, and it’s cheaper to fix in that window.
